Hot Cocoa, Anyone? Try Intrigue’s New Blends!

Hot cocoa tinsThe best hot cocoa ever. Hot cocoa weather has certainly arrived for many of us, and our brand new blend is a must for the serious chocolate lover. We are so excited about this new product, that we barely know where to begin. Granted, we made it, so our opinion is biased. But believe us when we tell you that this cocoa mix is the best you will ever try. Why?

  • No powdered milk added. Powdered dairy products are found in most cocoa mixes, but we think that version of milk is not very tasty. You can add fresh milk, whole cream, or whatever you want. You even have  options if you want to avoid dairy all together. Great for lactose intolerance, or dairy allergies. This cocoa is awesome with soy milk, almond milk, or rice milk.
  • Real hot cocoa, not hot chocolate. Hot chocolate is made from melted solid chocolate, its silky richness is not to be lightly dismissed. But cocoa powder has most of the cocoa butter removed, leaving you with a more intensely chocolaty experience. Our blend of premium cocoa powders is sweetened with organic fair-trade evaporated cane juice, made even tastier with natural flavors, and completed with a tiny pinch of sea salt.
  • Hot or Cold. Make a little extra and put it in the fridge for the next morning. Give it a shake and it becomes wonderfully frothy to drink straight (Strengthing medicine, Roo?), or add a healthy dose to your coffee for a real treat!
  • Tailgate Party or any Party. Great for the kids, sure. But make a special warm drink for the grown ups and add a splash of Kahlua, or Peppermint Schnapps. Put a candy cane in the mug for a stir stick, and even Santa will smile.

We’re debuting Intrigue Chocolates’ Hot Cocoa Mix with five versions that match some of our most popular truffle flavors. Check into our products page to order: Jamaican Hot Chocolate Hot Cocoa, Vanilla Bean Hot Cocoa, Raspberry Hot Cocoa, Pie Spice Hot Cocoa, or Lavender Hot Cocoa. Natural ingredients blended with premium cocoa to create a hot cocoa that you will love.

Slow it down for Father’s Day…

Did you know?….. Father’s Day fought a valiant battle to become official, and it had its humble beginnings in Spokane, Washington! A one Sonora Smart Dodd hatched the idea in 1910 out of love for her father on the heels of the newly inaugurated Mother’s Day (she wanted to balance the scales of parenting appreciation).

Father’s Day didn’t really hit it big until much later. Thank Nixon in 1972 for signing fathers over their own permanent national holiday. Spokane is still claiming 2010 as the Father’s Day Centennial.

It was a break from the weekday hustle and hurry out at Woodhouse Family Cellars, www.woodhousefamilycellars.com (in Woodinville) for us during Father’s Day weekend.  We at Intrigue did (of course!) remember to call our dear ol’ dads, and we did not buy them tacky ties. So we think we did alright.

We enjoyed seeing some of you with your fathers out at the Wine & Chocolate Tasting on June 19th & 20th (2010). As usual, our darkly delicious truffles paired fantastically with Woodhouse’s  great wines.

Ain’t no mother like the one I got…

Yep, it’s almost Mother’s Day! Do you have anything planned yet? She may be upset if you do anything extravagant, but she’ll be tickled if you spend time with her. Take Mom on a little drive to Woodinville for a leisurely day of sipping and tasting, or send her a box of chocolate to show her that she is in your thoughts.

Mother’s Day Special!

In honor of mothers everywhere (and especially our own Moms), we’re offering a special discount for all online orders placed by May 9th, 2010: FREE SHIPPING on all orders over $20! That includes a Chef’s Choice assortment of at least 6 flavors, ice packs, thermal envelopes, and USPS Priority Mail. At this point she won’t receive her chocolate shipment until next week, so it’ll be an extra surprise.

Of course, you can also drop by Woodhouse Family Cellars this weekend to pick up your truffles in person and find a bottle of wine to match!

The Year is Still New – Chocolate can be Healthy

It’s not too late to make a solid New Year’s Resolution. (Though if your original idea was to stop procrastinating, you may be a little behind on that one!) But it’s still barely 2010, and we have resolved to help you be healthier by eating truffles. While you may think that chocolate is a guilty pleasure, we are here to set the record straight and get it on the health food list. That is, chocolate the way that Intrigue Chocolates makes it can be very good for you.

Research shows that dark chocolate can give you a boost of anti-oxidants that help repair cells throughout your body by trapping destructive free radicals. This is especially important for good heart health, with moderate ongoing consumption of dark chocolate showing significant reduction in high blood pressure as well as lowering the risk of cardiac disease. Plant phenols, found in cocoa, are apparently responsible for this great health benefit, and the darker the chocolate, the more phenols present.

With our commitment to high-quality, fresh, and all-natural flavors, you have a healthful treat before you in the form of Intrigue Chocolates’ Truffles!

So do yourself and your heart a favor by making 2010 the year to eat more good chocolate. It’ll be the easiest New Year’s Resolution you have ever made.

Give thanks… And chocolate!

Thanksgiving is just around the corner.  It has always been my favorite holiday.  I get to visit family and friends.  I eat all of my favorite foods.  And–for once–the mess isn’t in my kitchen.

A great way to help your host/hostess keep the clutter to a minimum is to share a dish that takes up little space, doesn’t need to take a turn in the oven, needs no preparation, requires no utensils, and is sure to spark conversation.  Think truffles!  For those of you who can’t pass up the traditional flavors of the season, I have the Pie Are Round and Orange You Glad truffles.

If the idea of a tasty low-sugar dessert sounds like the perfect end for your holiday meal, there’s no time like the present.  Visit our Chocolate Shop now to place your order.
